At Outdoor Harderwijk you hire well-maintained bikes for every group. Choose an e-bike if you want to cruise along the Veluwemeer or across the Ermelosche Heide, or a mountain bike if you want to explore the singletracks. Thijs and Anne give you tailored route advice, from a short two-hour loop to a full day out.
Dozens of routes are ready and waiting: through the woods, across the heath, along the Veluwemeer or through Harderwijk's historic town centre. All starting from the Boekhorstlaan, so you can set off straight away.
Bringing the kids? For the very youngest there's the electric cargo bike, for those a bit bigger the parent-child tandem, and for those who want to ride themselves the children's mountain bike. That way the whole group cycles along in their own way.

Hiring bikes for a group?
Groups of up to 100 people are welcome at Outdoor Harderwijk. Whether you're planning a company outing, organising a family day or heading out with a group of friends, we have the bikes, the routes and the food and drink under one roof.
Combine a cycling route with an extensive lunch, drinks or BBQ. Thijs and Anne make sure everything is ready when you arrive. No hassle, no loose ends. You decide the programme, we take care of the rest.

We went cycling with the family. All 13 of us off to Harderwijk. Arranged last minute in the middle of the weekend (the evening before the morning activity) and it was no problem at all. Great hilarity on the tandems, had loads of fun. The location of Outdoor Harderwijk is ideal too, both for getting there by car and for being close to the cycle network junctions. Friendly and quick service as well.

Outdoor Harderwijk's own route. From the historic harbour to the heath of Ermelo and the Leuvenumse bos. Combine it with lunch, drinks or a BBQ.
26 km1.5 hours
De Veluwse Natuurroute
26 kilometres of the Leuvenumse bos, the Beekhuizerzand and the purple heath of Ermelo. The route for the e-chopper and e-scooter, but also a lovely ride on an e-bike or electric cargo bike.
21.7 km2 – 2.5 hours
MTB-route Harderwijk
21.7 kilometres of singletrack through the Leuvenumse bos and the Beekhuizerzand. A varied mountain bike route for beginners and experienced riders alike.
23 km2.5 – 3 hours
MTB-route Ermelo
23 kilometres of flowing singletracks across the Ermelosche Heide and through the Speulderbos. Less technical than Harderwijk, but with 171 metres of climbing it's a good challenge.

How far from the start are the cycling routes?
Our location on the Boekhorstlaan borders directly on the Veluwe woods. Within one minute's ride you're on the junction network. A long ride through town to get there? Not here.
Can I book bikes for a large group?
Yes. We hire out bikes to larger groups. Send a group enquiry via the website or give us a call. Together we'll then agree on numbers, types of bike and, if you like, a lunch or BBQ package.
What is the range of the e-bikes?
The e-bikes do at least 60 kilometres on a full battery, and more if you turn the assistance down. More than enough for a long day out on the Veluwe. See the cycling routes from Harderwijk.
Are there bikes for children too?
Yes. We hire out children's bikes in several sizes, electric cargo bikes for the very youngest and parent-child tandems for those who want to ride together on one bike. Let us know the ages when you book, and we'll make sure the sizes are right.
Do you have mountain bikes too?
Yes. You can hire a mountain bike from us for the MTB-route Harderwijk and the MTB-route Ermelo. The Harderwijk route is more challenging, with narrow singletracks and gentle climbs. The route near Ermelo is more accessible and ends with a lovely flow.
Can I hire a bike without booking?
Booking is recommended, especially in summer and on busy weekends. Walk-ins are sometimes possible, but we can't guarantee availability. Book online so you're sure of your bike at the time you want.
Can I combine my cycling day with food or drinks?
You can. We offer lunch packages, drinks packages and an extensive outdoor BBQ. Choose a package when you book or get in touch if you have something specific in mind.
Where can I park at Outdoor Harderwijk?
There are plenty of free parking spaces at our location on the Boekhorstlaan. No need to search: drive straight to us and park the car.
